Abstract

This article examines the main vectors of foreign policy cooperation between Kazakhstan and Southeast Asian countries. It analyzes countries with strong ties to Kazakhstan, those with no established relations, as well as states that hold potential for future cooperation. The article provides a detailed overview of the legal frameworks and agreements signed with each of these countries. Additionally, it studies trade turnover and investment levels, evaluating the potential for expanding partnerships in these areas.

Special attention is given to the current state of cooperation in the field of security and the prospects for collaboration with Southeast Asian nations in this domain. The study aims to deepen the understanding of Kazakhstan’s diplomatic strategy in the region and to propose ways to strengthen cooperation. Enhanced geopolitical, economic, and cultural ties are seen as a driver for elevating bilateral relations to a new level.

Key areas of mutually beneficial cooperation include expanding partnerships with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), developing trade and economic relations, attracting investments, and integrating transport and logistics infrastructure. Furthermore, education, tourism, and cultural exchange are also identified as important areas of collaboration.

Kazakhstan’s multi-vector foreign policy and the economic potential of Southeast Asian countries create opportunities to strengthen their partnership. The article outlines the current state, development trends, and future prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. The findings highlight the significance of this region in Kazakhstan's foreign policy and pave the way for new opportunities. Kazakhstan’s partnership with ASEAN also contributes to regional security and stability, as well as joint responses to global challenges.
